The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - Episode 1

Vague Summary: An epic new magical girl shoujo series has arrived, complete with fantastic animation, a great plot, and amazing music... ok that's not entirely true, its a horrifically bad home movie!

My Opinion: Wow! This has got to be one of the funniest episodes of anime I've seen in ages, the fake "bad" movies have always got me in stitches (see British comedy program "Darkplace") but this was the first time I'd seen it in an anime, an awful story with plot holes galore, amateurish acting and piss poor editing, topped off with a hilarious "Commentary Track" by the cameraman attempting to piece together this movie and you've got what is possibly the best single anime episode in a long time. The episode ends with the people who made the film one of which is an enthusiastic young girl (who I presume will be the focus for the rest of the series).
